Letter to Family
Hi my names Tyson Sumich. I am 18 years old, turning 19 this year (2011) from Perth,
After recently completing my final year of schooling at Scotch College in Perth, Western
Australia, I am currently on a gap year and seeking to expand my horizons by way of
working and living overseas.
As someone who is use to living independently away from home, I believe I would merge
seamlessly into an unfamiliar family environment.
My practical experience with children, which includes babysitting and various child caring
responsibilities, as well as my natural affinity with children have further contributed
to my desire to pursue work in this field.
Good time management, strong organization and study skills and focused self-motivation
allowed me to achieve a final West Australian Certificate of Education and a Business
Management Certificate Four. Beyond the academic field, my participation and major
commitment in a number of extracurricular activities have allowed me to develop invaluable
skills which I believe will assist in my ability to take on such a huge childcare
responsibility. In particular my commitment to team sports, especially tennis and
waterpolo, has allowed me to develop and understand the necessity of various skills,
particularly communication and listening skills.
Currently, I am dividing my time between working various jobs, to earn money to travel
overseas. Despite never having travelled to Europe, it is somewhere I have always been
interested in visiting and have family and friends close by. Living in the most isolated
city in the world, I am very keen to broaden my horizons by working overseas and working
as an au pair has further fuelled this desire.
