Letter to Family
my name is Svenja, I am 21 years old and I would love to take care of your child; work for
you as an au pair up to six months starting in October or November.
I come from Rostock, a wonderful city in the north of Germany and I am currently studying
Psychology of Rehabilitation and writing my bachelor thesis about "Gifted children and
underachievement" in order to complete my degree in September.
Besides my studies I am working part time in an educational field, what gives great
pleasure to me.
I enjoy working with children a lot. Seeing my younger sister grow up is fantastic. I
gained practical experiences working with children that convinced me that this is what I
want to do in my life, e.g. I did placements at a school and at a bilingual kindergarten
Furthermore, I am working part time as a city guide conducting children and youth groups
through my hometown, what is much fun.
As Andy Warhol said: "The world fascinates me." It really does. I like people, especially
children. I love to laugh and I love seeing other people laugh. Some of my favourite
hobbies are meeting friends, swimming, playing volleyball, reading books, travelling and
taking pictures. I like to share moments with other people, exchange experiences, give and
take. Music means much to me. I love summer and I love when it rains. Furthermore, I am
good at making paper boats.
I am an empathic and very patient person. I am open-minded, non-smoking, reliable and
responsible. To my mind, respect, confidence and kindness are very important.
I would love to take care of your child, play, sing, go outside, have fun and help her or
him with everything needed, e.g. preparing for school, helping with homework etc., just
like an older sister. Besides, I would love to teach your child some German if you want me
to do so.
If you are interested, feel free to ask what you would like to know about me.
I would be delighted to hear from you!
Have a nice May!
