Letter to Family
Hi! My name is Michelle and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I recently
graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Fine Arts and Minor in
Psychology. For the past year and a half, I have been working at a non-profit arts
organization, where I bring art lessons to hospitalized children around LA. I am extremely
passionate about art and the power of creativity and imagination, and hope to share my
talent and passion with your family. I am also a private swim instructor and used to work
at a summer camp as the head lifeguard and swim teacher. I have extensive volunteer
experience working with children with special needs, children at various camps, and
teaching them to read, write, and make art. Before pursuing a career in Art Therapy, I
would like to share what I have to offer with your family and explore the world on my own
in a new country. I come from a very close knit, traditional family who is very important
to me, and hope to find a family that will hold the same values as I and welcome me as one
of your own.
I have extensive volunteer experience working with children with special needs, children
at various camps, and teaching them to read, write, and make art. I have worked several
years as the head lifeguard and swim teacher at a private camp, with kids ages 2-15, and
then proceeded to work privately, going to the homes of families and giving swim lessons.
I have also volunteered for various organizations teaching kids how to read and write in
English. Currently, I go to various hospitals around Los Angeles leading art workshops
with the kids in the hospitals- doing painting, drawing, and all types of art! I also have
2 nieces- ages 3 and 5 who I babysit often.
After the Aupair program, I plan on returning to the states to continue my education and
get my license as an Art Therapist for children. In the long run, my goal is to open a
center for children that offers art and music classes and therapy for children.
