Letter to Family
Hello my name is Keira Fay. I am a 22 year old female from Newcastle, Australia.
I live in the town of Newcastle, Newcastle is a beautiful city about 2 hour drive from
Sydney, and is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
I live with my Mother and my older sister in a nice quite neighbourhood, and on weekends
we usually catch up with friends and family, I also have two older sisters who live with
the partners and children in Newcastle. I am close with my sisters and brother in laws,
and we play basketball together in a mixed completion on a Wednesday night, have dinner
nights and just catch up and watch movies or watch the NBA basketball, rugby league or the
rugby union together.
My two eldest sisters have 3 sons between them, ranging from 6 months to 2 ½ years old. I
regularly visit them and on occasion if my sisters like to go out I‘ll babysit my nephews
and following the routines which my sisters have put in to place.
I love to play sports and on a Monday and Wednesday night I play basketball, one in a
women’s team and the other in a unisex team. I have played basketball every since I was 5
years old, as it is a fun enjoyable social sport that helps me to stay fit and healthy. I
also enjoy watching sport, in particular supporting family and friends when they are
playing. For example, on weekends I go to my young neighbour’s soccer games, my brother-in
laws rugby union games and my other my brother-in laws soccer games.
I have a Diploma in Children Services which I completed at the end of 2009 and my First
Aid Certificate and Since February 2010 I have been working as a casual at children care
centres with children ranging from 0-5 years old. As a child care worker it is my job to
make sure that the children are taken care of and I follow the routines of the centre and
the child’s personal routines which includes when they sleep and eat and to interact with
the children throughout the day.
For the past 4 years I have been a regular babysitter for my next door neighbours whom has
two 9 year old twins. When I’m a babysitter for this family I cook dinner, help the
children with their homework any and make sure that they are ready for the evening. My
neighbours are originally from Bristol in United Kingdom, when they first came over to
Australia we talked about our schools and how they are different from the United Kingdom
Why do I want to be an Au pair? Ever since I was 18 I have always wanted to go overseas
and experience living with other families and learning about their culture, also teaching
the families about Australia culture. People always tell us that Australia is a beautiful
country, well instead of you coming to Australia in your busy life, let me bring a bit of
Australia to you. I would read your children the best Australia books I can find, show you
pictures of our beautiful animals and landscape. Being Au pair to your family is an
experience where I will learn a lot of new ways to live my life and being able to put them
into practice when looking after your children and when I come home to Australia. I have
always wanted to go overseas and there is no better than doing it through being Au pair,
being someone who is there for your family when it is needed and hopeful became part of
your family, an experience that I would never forget.
I hope to hear from you very soon, and if you would like to learn more about me and have
any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
